"The client was willing to push the limits so that it didn’t just look like a re-creation of an old London townhouse," says Australian-based interior designer @thomashamel of a recent project, which is featured in ELLE Decor's November 2020 issue. As chic and glam as this London pied-à-terre is, Hamel's main focus was to maximize the use of all the spaces. "There’s only one big room in the apartment, and then the kitchen and two bedrooms," Hamel says. "They needed a little space for dining, but not a lot. That’s why we did the banquette on the right side, so the clients can have small dinners there. The chairs can pull around, and we used a table big enough to fit six people." In the formal sitting room, the pair of Regency chairs from @jamb_london are covered in a @fortunyvenezia fabric, and the sectional sofa is a custom design. In the far corner, Hamel designed a sitting area that doubles as the dining area. The chandelier is by @hervevanderstraetengalerie, and the artwork is by Béatrice Casadesus.
