You can stop reading, that’s OK, too! 😉 Why am I holding up a peace sign? Well, about a month ago I was running and this older gentleman was approaching me. We were both in masks, huffing and puffing and as he came closer he threw up a peace sign as his hello and I loved it. I quickly waved a peace sign back and felt happy. It made me feel HAPPY and I guess you could say a little bit more (peaceful.) Thank you, sir! I took his gesture as him saying thank you to me. Thanking me for wearing a mask, for respecting him and respecting others. Of course that’s my assumption. 🤷🏼‍♀️ For the last month I’ve been copying this gesture and throwing up peace signs as I run past people on the trail. Some actually wave a peace sign back, others don’t even look up from the ground and some people run past me in complete confusion. 🤣🤔 Here’s the part that I’m not sure how I feel about it…? The other day I was running and there was literally no one around me so I pulled my mask down to get some fresh air and take a few deep breaths. Around the corner came this woman and the minute she noticed me she pulled out her phone and pointed it towards me. I thought to myself, “is this woman taking a photo of me? Is she recording me? Is she reporting me to the mask police? Is SHE the mask police?” I mean, maybe she was taking a selfie while pointing her phone directly at me? I guess anything is possible. Now I’ve said it before in my stories and I’ll say it again here, I run with my mask on and if there’s no one in plain sight I pull it down to get fresh air. I’m not gonna apologize for that but what I will say is I’m being smart and being cautious. I see so many people on this trail that refuse to wear a mask at all. Everyone makes their own choices and who am I to judge? I don’t know if this lady was judging me or taking photos of me? It was just so strange. Anyway, try smiling under your mask, maybe throw up the peace sign, and if you’re running, walking and have distance from others pull down your flipping mask and take some fresh air breath.
