The movement was inspired by anti-racist discourse which sought to highlight issues of race and gender and the politics of representation. The group were highly influential in changing the nature and perception of British culture. #BlackHistoryMonth Artist Donald Gladstone Rodney (1961–1998) was a leading figure in the movement, who often used autobiography to address social and political issues from the perspective of a Black British man. His work also dealt with more personal issues of identity, family and home. This work by Rodney, 'In the House of My Father' 1996, is a photograph of the artist's hand holding a tiny sculpture of a house. The house is constructed from pieces of his skin which were removed during one of many operations he underwent to combat sickle cell anaemia. This small, delicate dwelling has been seen as symbolising 'the fragility of Rodney having to live within a structure hopelessly unable to sustain itself'. This photo was taken two years before Rodney died, aged 36. The work is on free display at @TateLiverpool.」10月18日 0時26分
