Anniece went to heaven on Tuesday, October 13, suddenly but peacefully and surrounded by my Dad & loved ones. Losing a parent brings enormous pain... losing one without being able to see them and give them one last hug and kiss, is... a pain that I’ve never felt before. Anniece was a BRIGHT light and lover of life (and animal print), and although we weren’t related by blood, this fierce little Texas woman and I had so much in common. She inspires me to fight for what I believe in, love whole-heartedly, and never be afraid to start over. She was smart, quick, and carried a sense of humour far outweighing her tiny stature. We absolutely loved to chat about all things figure skating, and her favourite program of ours was “Je Suis Malade.” I only recently found out when she was in the hospital, that it had been her ringtone all of these years. 💔 I can’t believe she is gone.. it will take me a while to believe it... but I cherish our memories together and as a family so much. The last time I hugged her was last year at the premiere of Battle of the Blades. Trips back to Houston in the Spring and Summer were cancelled because of COVID, and now I’m back here at the show. I know who I’ll be thinking of when I take the ice next week with Bryan Bickell. 🙏 Dad, thank you for bringing this special woman into my life.
