Of all the musicians who played with Prince in the Sign O' The Times era, @mattfink1 — better known by his stage name Dr. Fink—was one of the only players who witnessed Prince's full musical transformation first-hand.

Dr. Fink joined Prince's band in late 1978, when Prince, then a newly signed Warner Bros. artist, was assembling his first live group. Over the years Dr. Fink became a core member of The Revolution, and carried on with Prince through the Sign O' The Times, Lovesexy, and Nude Tours in the late '80s.

After @therevolution disbanded, Dr. Fink even transformed his look to align with Prince's new vision.

"Prince said to me, 'See if you can do something else with the scrub look, the doctor thing," Dr. Fink recalls. "And then I talked to our wardrobe gal, Helen Hyatt, who was the head designer at that time. And I said, “What if we go back and look at the ‘60s doctor garb in those days, like Dr. Kildaire used to wear on TV?”
