I’ve welcomed back customers, staff and the people who just happen to pass by. I saw a chap the other day who wasn’t his normal chirpy self. He is quite dapper and usually well groomed with a sharp haircut and neatly trimmed beard. We had a chit chat and slowly he told me he was having a tough time. He has a small business and like many is feeling the strain. He’d had many sleepless nights and was struggling to cope both personally and professionally. I listened and tried my best to reassure him it’ll be alright. We had a virtual high five and he went on his way. Like many I’ve had down days. In those moments it’s the littlest things that can make a difference. A smile or a pigeon walking along the pavement. Anything... I’m pleased to say I saw the same guy earlier, new haircut, beaming a wide smile. He gave me a thumbs up and said “Thanks for the other day Nick”. Sometimes a listening ear is all someone needs.
