The artist first began using bottle tops in his work in 1998 when, while taking an exploratory walk, he stumbled across a bag of discarded caps. Anatsui left these in his studio for several months before the idea came to him to stitch them together to create a sculpture of fiery red, earthy yellows and rich gold shades.💫.
