She had a last good day yesterday, head butting Monica (as cat’s do as a sign of affection), purring, she ate fairly well in the morning and afternoon, but would not eat anything at the end of day. She slept against my body most of the night, I kept waking up, petting her, and putting my arm around her. Then around 3am, or so, she moved down to my feet. She lost control of her bladder and wet the bed, she wouldn’t drink anything this morning, and kept trying to throw up, and then she would collapse on the floor and urinate. She was a good girl to the end, made it very clear it was time for her to go. I spent my last hours with her on my lap, or right beside me. I took her out in the sunshine on the deck so she could feel the air and the sun. I carried her in my arms to the vet’s a few blocks away, wrapped in towels. She felt the sun on her face until it was time to go inside. She had no energy to put up any kind of resistance (normally I could never carry her, or hold her like that). Her blood pressure was very low. I told her what a good girl she was, how much I loved her, and that I would carry her in my heart forever. I’m so happy she had a last summer, spending lots of time out on the deck, and on my lap, especially these last few days as I really sensed her time was coming. I know it was the last thing I could do for her, to end her pain, I will miss her so much. ~ These are some favourite photos of her, the first one has been my wallpaper on my phone for years. She was so sweet when she closed her eyes, it was one of the things I always tried to capture when I was photographing her. She also had beautiful blue eyes, I will miss them so much. She loved to sit at the window and look out at the world. And she was such a good little model and inspiration for me.
