She started out in Oakland Chinatown, organizing immigrant garment workers to win their wages back. She worked with coalitions of community activists and raising Oakland's minimum wage. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since taking office in 2019, Nikki led the passage of the strongest COVID-19 eviction moratorium in the State of California. She authored fair chance housing protections for people with conviction records, created a fund for community land trusts to stop displacement and create permanently affordable, community-owned housing, and is now leading a task force to reimagine public safety in Oakland with the goal of reducing the police budget by $150M and instead fund programs that address the root causes of violence.」10月1日 5時07分
