The year is 2003. It’s ‘casual day’ at school & I’m rocking a fresh SMP hoodie, ready to turn heads (not a hard task some of these kids might as well have been sponsored by k-mart). Turns out the hot threads worked a little too well, as jealousy reared it’s ugly head at recess in the form of my classmate, Dane. He was a loud idiot, but inexplicably carried considerable sway among pupils. Maybe because he bashed people. Hell I wish I’d copped a beatdown that day, instead he yelled out from across the yard, “Oi cunt, do you even know what SMP stands for?” The schoolyard fell silent. In anticipation to an answer they knew I wouldn’t have. My laboured breathing & silence signalled defeat. “Sex Money Power” exclaimed Dane with real attitude, before cackling manically. I guess in hindsight this stuff gives you thick skin. Also, Dane ended up in a monster car crash a few years later. Karma perhaps? It’s impossible to know, but yes, probably. Thought I’d share after some mentions of hilarious brand name clothing on my story yesty.
