I kept on him and told him how I aspired to direct a music video for his company one day #UptownRecords Andre ultimately let me direct his most important artists HeavyD, Jodeci, Puffy, and Mary J. Blige and help shape their images and express visually what they were trying to say with their music. What an education! I am grateful to Andre and Russell for bringing me into their small and very tight circle that included @315nelsongeorge , @chrisrock, Joey Simmons, @jluvely2000, Gary Harris, @glenefriedman @stanlathan and allow a hungry jewish kid from #MiamiBeach who loved HipHop to be exposed to the debates, arguments, philosophical diatribes, about black culture, music, movies, comedy, marketing, relationships, heartbreak, business, art, fashion and everything in between. I don’t think they realized what it meant to me to be treated as an equal and a friend the way they did. They gave me such an incredible gift, not only the insight and education but the confidence to accomplish what I did over the years! Money Talks, Rush Hour and even The Family Man came out of my exposure to these men and their ideas, thoughts and creativity. They put me down, gave me the ball and I ran with it! I always considered Andre and these men mentors and I love them for their generosity of spirit, believing in me and most of all for always being honest and telling me when I was wack! They constantly challenged me and thats what we all need.... to surround ourselves with friends that never pull any punches and tell you the truth and challenge us to be your best.
