Foskett Spring in Southeast #Oregon is only about the size of a cubicle but is home to the rare Foskett speckled dace, a small minnow that has made a splashy recovery. Listed as threatened in 1985, through the coordinated efforts of the Bureau of Land Management, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, habitat enhancement projects worked to make more space for the fish at Foskett Spring and Dace Spring. The projects created more open-water habitat, and the number of Foskett speckled dace has increased as a result. In October 2019, under the Trump Administration, the Foskett speckled dace were successfully removed from the endangered species list.
