Here at T+L, we realize that our brand wouldn’t be what it is today without the brilliant photographers that we feature on our page. That’s why we decided to start a new Photographer of the Week series, called Behind the Views, to recognize the work of travel photographers across the globe.

First up, we have Madeline Lu (@lumadeline). Like many of us, Madeline used to capture images of her everyday life, specifically her kids. But as she and her family began to travel more, she realized she had a passion for photography that went beyond capturing images for the family archive.

The moment it all clicked for Madeline was when she took a photo of her family looking at the Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland. “It was one of those natural, lucky, spontaneous shots,” she recently told T+L. “It was that picture that made me realize how much I love to capture our beautiful world and rare moments.”

Her advice for aspiring travel photographers? “Be yourself!” she says. “Photograph what interests you the most instead of trying to create what’s trending, what gets more likes, followers, or makes more money. It will all pay off in the end.”
