Today, Jeffrey Mansfield (@jeffmansfield) shares his thoughts on Maruyama Ōkyo's "Goose and Reeds; Willows in the Moonlight":  "I often find myself spending a lot of time thinking and worrying about whether I'll have sign language access for upcoming meetings, calls, and events—this can create crushing anxiety.  Ōkyo’s painting brings calm and a surprising spaciousness. Each stroke of the brush is dipped in intention; not a stroke too many or too few. The scene is complete, yet the moment is incomplete: the goose is suspended midair, heading somewhere from elsewhere, but in this fleeting moment, it is here, present.  An ephemeral fog fills the left two panels—which otherwise appears empty—with a certain weight and volume. The gap between each panel lends structure, the low vantage point invites intimacy, and the disappearing horizon implies vastness; together, these qualities hold space—for growth.
