His time in London and the UK has been documented by the BBC – “When Bob Marley came to Britain” and is worth a view for the insightful account of his rise to international stardom ⁠ More importantly, we are served up with a close up of a congenial Marley, knocking a football around in Battersea Park, an impromptu jam with a local band in Hulme Manchester and his all-round calm and friendly disposition. His appearance at Peckham Manor School was a classic example of his relaxed approach as well as his drive to gain recognition. At the suggestion of art teacher Keith Baugh, who Marley met at the Bag O’Nails club in Soho, Marley put on a show at the school, together with Johnny Nash and ended the visit with a kick around with the school kids in the playground.
