It wasn’t until I heard Michael Phelps speak about mental health that I realized I was not alone in my feelings. I assumed success equaled happiness. But hearing Michael, who like me, has accomplished so much in his career as an athlete, could still feel empty at times, was strangely comforting to me. I've come to understand that at the end of the day, we are all just people with our own unique struggles, big or small, and it is ok to not feel ok. You don’t have to hide it in fear that others won’t understand or will judge you for it. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out HBO's documentary #TheWeightofGold.
