Brooks served as a support worker in the predominantly Black 91st Engineer Battalion (U.S.), stationed in New Guinea and then the Philippines, and reaching the rank of private first class during the war. Mr. Brooks is an amazing man for reasons other than his age: he endured a high level of racism not only in military service but also when he returned home, and as a 96-year-old during Katrina, he left his flooded home and swam to his church, climbed to the roof and was rescued by a helicopter. @wwiimuseum」9月12日 22時46分
