Once you pass through the main gate and climb the stretch of stone stairs, you’ll find the expansive temple grounds, flanked at the Nio-mon gate with the statues of two guardian deities. Venture further in to find the 5-story pagoda, standing in the grandeur of years of history. This is the oldest pagoda out of four Kanto locations since before the end of the Shogunate and is known as a treasured architectural site that survived the air raids in WW2.
