I figured it’s a good day to post some pictures of this JJFU Damascus 1911 I forged for Magpul CEO/Founder Richard Fitzpatrick. Besides it’s outwardly beauty. It definitely has some special meaning, especially today. Richard was inspired by 9/11 to enlist and go fight for our country. He did just that with great honor. When he commissioned me to build this pistol He gave me a chunk of World Trade Center steel to forge into the Damascus. I never told him this, but at first I had a real problem with building a beautiful pistol out of a piece of something that represents so much pain and suffering for so many Americans. The more I thought and wrapped my head around it. The more I realized he was a hero and doing it for all the right reasons. I guess for me to sweat and bleed over something it has to make sense and has to have a good reason “why”. Or I just can’t do it. Maybe that’s a flaw in me, I don’t know. The end result to me is the perfect contrast of events. Taking death and sadness and flipping it around to something that is beautiful and sentimental, an heirloom for generations.
