Lanvin announces an ongoing partnership with The House of Xclusive Lanvin, the ballroom group named after the Parisian couture house. As a first-of-its-kind collaboration, a ballroom house and a fashion house are working together on a large-scale project.
Lanvin and The House of Xclusive-Lanvin present “La Mère et L’enfant”, a short narrative film directed by Mayan Toledano (@thisismayan) at the Lanvin SoHo boutique, in NYC. Staring 25 members of @houseofxclusivelanvin and actress/model/activist @indyamoore, the film depicts the notion of motherhood, a key theme of the ballroom scene, and interprets Lanvin’s historical emblem “La Mère et L’enfant” (“mother and child”).
“Seeing the House of Xclusive-Lanvin recalls Lanvin’s origin to me as its founder Jeanne Lanvin created and then built an empire in the 1920s 1930s for the love of Marguerite, her only child. There is a fascination to understand and feel how a “mother” can create a system beyond herself to offer a world to her “children”, to push back limits and protect a space where expression becomes everything, allowing all possibilities. Today, this is the deep notion of motherhood, not etymologically but philosophically.”

Set against @マイリー・サイラス “Midnight Sky,” the video, shot entirely on iPhone 11 Pro Max, brings to life the key elements of ballroom competition showcasing traditional ballroom categories, serving Face, Body, Fashion, Runway and Voguing realness. This film is a first chapter of an ongoing partnership between the two houses.
