So my family and I get food delivered to my place a lot. I used to take a lot of simple pleasures for granted, this includes food delivery services. The beginning of this pandemic brought out the best and worst in me (sometimes it alternated several times a day). I found myself getting increasingly negative as my hopes of returning back home to my family and friends looked bleak. But one morning amidst the negativity I decided to google gratitude. My daily readings on gratitude became a much needed habit as I recognised how much I took the privileges of the ordinary for granted. It helped me develop a greater sense of compassion and humility as I began seeing a broader ecosystem of goodness around me. My fresh take on gratitude made me want to be a part of this ecosystem, not just as a receiver, but as a giver as well. That’s why I’m especially thrilled to be part of @aiasingapore’s #ShareTheLove CSR initiative. Together with AIA, we want to celebrate essential frontline workers and share stories of their resilience. As these unsung heroes support our community, I just want to say that we are so lucky to have you and we know it, you are making a bigger impact than you realise. As part of this celebration of the contribution our essential workers had made, I feel one of the most practical and helpful gifts we can offer them is a peace of mind, so they can continue going about in their daily activities or serving at the frontline, and that’s something money can’t buy.
