#CubsCollection: Rooftops. Waveland and Sheffield Avenues are home to some of the most unique seats in baseball. First time visitors to Wrigley Field often point at the stadium seats affixed to the rooftops across from the ballpark with amusement and awe. These buildings predate the ballpark for the most part, serving simply as apartment buildings for most of their existence. Tenants would often head to their rooftops to watch Cubs games. Eventually the rooftop seating became an extension of the historic ballpark, with each building selling tickets to enjoy Cubs baseball from its unique vantage point. Some fans have even grown an affinity to buildings on Waveland and Sheffield the way some pick left or right field in the bleachers. The rooftops are an authentic Wrigleyville experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else. Even opposing players have tried to get in on the fun. In 1993, Reds pitcher Tom Browning was not scheduled to start. During the game he was caught by a television camera on one of the rooftops enjoying the game. The rooftops are currently one of very few ways baseball fans have been able to safely catch a game in-person during this unprecedented 60-game season. Have you ever watched a Cubs game from one of the rooftops around Wrigley Field?
