Have you ever questioned yourself what are the dangers for a rope? That chemicals, like strong acids, destroy ropes is well know. Here are some more risks:
👉 UV radiation from the sun badly effects ropes, make them lose elasticity and become stiff. This is why especially old, faded rope slings hanging permanently in a wall should be used with caution.
👉 Moisture can be on risk too. Wet ropes get less able to absorb energy dynamically and have significantly lower safety reserves. Impregnated ropes are beneficial, because they are water resistant and can withstand the wet longer.
👉 Sand, granite crystals and also chalk contamination can be a cause of abrasion. The dirt can get inside a rope and damage the core. So, it’s better to use a rope bag.
👉👉In any case of doubt, the rope should better be replaced.
