Waiting for the weekend like Sir William Orpen's wife Grace, bathed in candle light and reclining by a window through which a cobalt-blue sky at late dusk can be seen.

'The Window: Night' goes on view at 12 noon today at the @rhagallery in Dublin, as part of our preview exhibition of Irish Art. This intimate, evening interior, painted in 1907, is one of eighteen works in the sale from the collection of businessman Sir Michael Smurfit.

Our preview is open to the public, by appointment, until 30 August. The artworks will then head to our New Bond Street galleries in London, where they will go on view from 4 September.
