Whether designing a home or hotel, it is important to consider the surrounding environment in addition to the property’s own architecture, history and desired look and feel. For @austinproperhotel , I found inspiration from the area’s historic, craftsman-style architecture, the local, soulful culture and surrounding natural beauty (it is adjacent to Lady Bird Lake and Texas Hill Country). Much of the natural materiality is sourced from the region and we infused the spaces with art and crafts from local artisans.
