Internationally renowned artist, Ai Weiwei @aiww has taken over IWM London’s iconic atrium with a new artwork: HISTORY OF BOMBS 🙏🏼💣💔 . We visited on 15th August which marked 75 years since the end of World War II 🕊️ . Tread carefully over 50 lifesize missiles and bombs. Exploring international migration, conflict as a root cause of human flow, and the relationship between the individual, society and the state, History of Bombs draws on the artist’s ongoing investigation into politics and power. . From 24th September: Also taking place at @imperialwarmuseums next month, “REFUGEES” explores the experiences of refugees throughout history and the ongoing issues faced by those affected. . Collectively, 17.5 million people have fled Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen alone, due to recent conflict. IWM’s Refugees season will unlock the personal stories of people forced to flee their homes and those who work to support them. . Entry is free, although you need to pre-book a time slot via the @imperialwarmuseums website. There's also a haunting Holocaust Exhibition which again, is a must see. . Highly recommend a visit (we also booked a socially distanced guided tour which was extremely informative, heartbreaking 💔 and thought provoking) 🙏🏼🇬🇧🏰 . My key takeaway: Very heartbreaking... but also extremely educational. We must understand our history, face up to the current atrocities of the world we live in, and learn from our past mistakes, in order to build a better future for the generations to come.
