It was for all intents and purposes, the world's first supercar, but it almost never came into being. You see, Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the eponymous Italian tractor company, owned a Ferrari 250GT, only his had a dodgy clutch. Frustrated, he went to visit Enzo Ferrari, who told him in no uncertain terms that “the problem is not with the car but with driver!” advising Lamborghini to look after his tractors instead. No small amount of heated arm waving and hand gesticulations later, Lamborghini decided to one-up Ferrari and start his own sports car business.
