#AD How are you deciding what to read this year? I realised that non-fiction is a total non-starter for me this year - I need that escapism right now!
I’m super inspired to read a few of the titles from the @WomensPrize for Fiction list this year, with Girl, Woman, Other a high priority, and one which @whatsallyreadnext adored! But I’m kicking things off with A Thousand Ships by Natalie Hayne, a classic retelling of the Greek stories of Odysseus, Troy, and the Trojan War from the little-heard perspective of the women affected by the choices of the powerful men around them. @thesenovelthoughts read it last year and told me she loved it! She’s reading Hamnet over on her page.
It’s been really fun to read this as part of a book club with @NatWest, who have partnered with @WomensPrize and @curtisbrownbooks to launch a programme for aspiring female writers. At the end of the Discoveries programme, one writer will be awarded representation from Curtis Brown, £5,000 in prize money, and business advice from Natwest - this is an excellent opportunity!
