We had gotten up before sunrise, imagining the area known as the Triveni Sangam would be busy with workers preparing the infrastructure for the coming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj (Allahabad). Instead, the holiest of holy areas in India where the Yamuna, Saraswati, and the Ganges rivers converge was desolate, covered by enchanting fog and only a few people making their morning prayers. Coming upon large yellow electrical power cables pretending to be spaghetti, I became distracted entirely, overwhelmed by this strand of coiled yellow, which had nothing to do with anything related to the story I was working on for @natgeo. It took some time to pull out of the trance caused by the spaghetti, remembering this evening the sounds, smells, the slight moisture in the wind at the moment a man standing by his bicycles, stretched his arms while putting on a shirt after praying in the Yamuna. I knew this simple, peaceful photograph would not be published in the magazine. These are needed moments of visual meditations leading towards the meaning of why I am here.
