Au cœur de la Grande Galerie, arrêtez-vous devant Le Christ à la colonne, petit tableau de dévotion privée peint par Antonello de Messine à la fin de sa carrière, entre 1476 et 1478. ⤵️ - 🔎 Le Christ est représenté en buste de trois quarts, adossé à une colonne, couronné d'épines, la corde au cou. Ce tableau synthétise la Passion du Christ à travers plusieurs symboles : la couronne d'épines pour les outrages, la colonne pour la flagellation et la corde pour le portement de croix. - 🙏 L'artiste a choisi un cadrage très serré pour rapprocher le visage du Christ et accentuer la force pathétique de l'image. Le spectateur peut ainsi observer l'intensité de la souffrance de cet homme dont la tête est renversée, les lèvres entrouvertes et le regard tourné vers le ciel.
