An "SOS" message written on the beach of a tiny Pacific island pointed rescuers to three missing mariners, US and Australian authorities said Tuesday. Last Thursday, the three men intended to take a 23-foot boat on a 26-mile journey — from Pulawat to Pulap atolls in the Federated States of Micronesia. But they went off course, ran out of fuel, and found themselves on Pikelot Island, roughly 118 miles from their intended destination, according to authorities.
