Kate Roberts, this weeks DISSENTER and my mentor, talking about overcoming fear.
Kate was our first taping and we didn’t have video yet, so we decided in lieu of that, to share some pictures of the trip she took me on to Zimbabwe, over a decade ago.
* a 32 yr old man volunteering to get circumcised as a prevention to transmitting AIDS. We tell the story about how I sang “You are my Sunshine” while the procedure happened.
*meetings with local @psiimpact workers and government Health officials.
* visiting a village of sex workers and their children. We brought water purification crystals and helped look for protein (ants. I ate them. They were a gift.)
*Going to the HIV testing clinic to be tested and go through the whole process. There was a TV in the waiting room. By chance, it was airing an episode of Will & Grace!
