Almost two hundred years ago, a woman presented herself in front of a statue of the Buddhist deity Fudō-myōō at Hozenji temple in Osaka. Unable to offer a coin or gift as a tribute, she tossed water over the statue while making her wish. What that wish was has been lost to time, but it came true. As word got around, local worshippers flocked to throw water over Fudō-myōō in the hopes their prayers would be answered. So much so that over time, moss began to grow. The temple buildings being destroyed during World War 2 bombing raid, but the statue survived and can still be found today down a narrow alley off Dotonbori. So go ahead, make a wish.
