ナショナルジオグラフィックさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ナショナルジオグラフィックInstagram)「Photo by @stephenwilkes The relief group Samaritan’s Purse has set up field hospitals all over the world. Normally they build temporary hospitals overseas after natural disasters and during disease outbreaks. No one could have imagined that the group would be working 12-hour shifts in Central Park in 2020. This 68-bed field hospital had 10 ICU beds and ventilators, seven of which were being used when I took this photograph. Central Park is one of my favorite places in New York City. From marriage proposals to people going out for a run or playing baseball, there is never a shortage of activity within the park. I had heard news stories about a temporary hospital being built on the park's East Meadow, and I imagined what it would might look like from above. Seeing empty baseball fields and deserted pathways was emotional, but then seeing the white COVID-19 tents, as they anchored this great park, was something I’ll never forget. So grateful to National Geographic for giving me the opportunity to document my beloved NYC from the air during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in April. The story is currently in the August issue of the magazine and also available online. A special thanks to @kfmoran, my editor extraordinaire! #natgeo #nyc #centralpark #weareone To see more from my travels near and far, follow me @stephenwilkes.」7月27日 23時38分 - natgeo
