The Fresh Air Fund provides free, life changing summer experiences for children and families residing in underserved communities in New York City. The Fund was founded in 1877, in response to a tuberculosis outbreak. In the past 140 years, The Fund has provided 1.8 million children with the opportunity to get out of the city and into the great outdoors with summer camps, host family experiences in rural communities, and leadership programs. ☀️ In response to the COVID-19 pandemic The Fund has canceled their traditional summer camp and host family programs. However, The Fresh Air Fund has a lot of experience with supporting children and families during public health crises. They are providing new and safe programming to NYC families this summer, a much needed reprieve for communities that have been disproportionately affected by the global pandemic.
