A ceremony took place at Windsor Castle and Highgrove House today to mark the transfer of the role of Colonel-in-Chief of The Rifles from The Duke of Edinburgh to The Duchess of Cornwall.

Their Royal Highnesses were present for the events, which took place in short succession. The @rifles_regiment was formed in 2007 through the merger of four Regiments.

The Duke’s long standing association with The Rifles began in 1953, when HRH was appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Wiltshire Regiment. The Duchess also holds the appointment of Royal Colonel of 4th Battalion The Rifles and will continue to hold this position.
