Western Tiger Swallowtail butterfly getting nectar atop a blooming thistle near the rim of the @blackcanyonnps. This act of pollination is critical to a thriving ecosystem. Getting this photo was no easy task, @アンジー・ペイン and I chased it through a sage field tracking it for the better part of 30 minutes, each with a small @NikonUSA strobe in hand waiting for it to perch long enough so I could get low, grab focus, adjust the lights and snap off a frame or two. In the end it was a lot of fun minus the ant bites all over my legs and a few cactus needles! Glad it worked out in the end, photographed on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック
