In the day, pelicans flew past the living room windows, which look directly out over the Pacific Ocean. During the night, Paul was woken by a mysterious light, as bright as car headlights. Slightly startled, he went outside to investigate and found, to his relief, that the source was "the full moon reflected on the sea".
