A real symbol of ‘italianità’.
His songs are pure poetry as 'Anna and Marco', 'Caruso'. 'Canzone', dedicated to Naples, is a joyful hymn to life and the same 'Piazza Grande', written for celebrate his beloved city Bologna. But his voice is not only the symbol of Bologna but of the whole of Italy.
We want to celebrate his eclectic and original style: thanks to his curiosity and his skill he manages to embrace different musical genres and collaborates with many artists obtaining great success.
He ranges from political songs to moving twilight ballads, conquering entire generations but escaping from any classification and open to all musical influences. Dalla is also very attentive to novelties in language, customs, society.
Reading his songbook means being surprised and enchanted by continuous irony, linguistic passages, poems. "I would like to be the dress you will wear, the lipstick you will use, I would like to dream of you as I have never dreamed of you" – from ‘Tu non mi basti mai’ (1996).
With these words we remember an incredible poet, musician, lyricist.
