Photo by Robin Hammond @Hammond_Robin I was saddened to hear that last month 86-year-old Griet Seekoei passed away. She was one of the last four surviving N/uu speakers, a language spoken by the San people (sometimes called Bushmen) and believed to be more than 25,000 years old. The language is recognized by the UN as critically endangered. I photographed her in South Africa in 2018 for a special issue on race for @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine.
