All of these folks are considered to have “mild” cases, and I was pointing out how this disease is far from harmless to those who don’t die. Suddenly my responses were flooded with many, many people who have had coronavirus or who have had someone close to them with it, sharing their experiences. I’m reposting a few of their stories here, because I think it’s important to put human faces on the lists of numbers we see everyday in the news. I don’t do this to make people afraid but out of the hope that all of us, out of our love and empathy for our fellow humans (and ourselves), will stop minimizing the effect the disease has on people, and do what we can to slow its spread.
