ゼリカ・シルバーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ゼリカ・シルバーInstagram)「I have mixed feelings about today. There so much in injustice in this country: racial and gender discrimination, women in the army are sexually harassed/abused, kids in cages, police brutality, gender wage gaps, stagnant wages, corporate corruption, etc. But yet, I am still grateful to have grown up in the US and not Mexico. It is much worse over there. You can protest loud and proud here; in Mexico, you get killed for speaking up against injustice, journalists go missing for reporting against the gov. America has a lot of work to do & I plan on being part of that change. But the U.S. has done a lot this little Mexican girl. For starters, free education, and the ability to pursue my goals & dreams. Something I would not have been able to do if I was in what is Mexico today. So yeah, I have mixed feelings because not everyone has experienced the America I have. I don’t know if I should even celebrate the independence of my colonizers or celebrate it despite its problems & injustices. I love being an American citizen, and I love being Mexican. My ancestors are Native American, African & European. Looking at my heritage and ancestry allows me to put myself in the shoes of others and empathize. We have a lot of work to do in the U.S. starting with getting Frumpy Trumpy out of office on November 3rd & voting LOCALLY. 🇲🇽🇺🇸」7月5日 14時10分 - zuleykasilver
