The book Disability Visibility came out last week and I started diving into my copy today. Edited by Alice Wong @disability_visibility , this collection of first person stories is a crucial look at the lives and experiences of disabled people in America, told in their own words. Last week was also the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and so today I wanted to share the link to a story that Imani Barbarin @crutches_and_spice wrote for Good Company last year called "The Cost of Being Disabled" (link in bio and stories above). It includes interviews with Alice Wong @disability_visibility , Ajani Murray @ajaniajmurray , Gregg Baratan, and Rebecca Cokely @rcoke54 and is an important look at the very real costs of living with a disability and how non-disabled people can be better advocates and allies.
