It brings me great happiness to arrive somewhere and feel represented.” Sadly, the level of success Sampaio has found abroad has yet to be replicated at home. “I am almost ashamed to say that I have been much more accepted outside of my own country,” she says. “Much is said about us during Pride month by the media in Brazil, but they don’t let us speak for ourselves.
