We began this project months ago, but with all of the changes in the world, it feels like a lifetime. Originally, I thought I might be wearing this shoe in Tokyo right now—which felt scary but also exciting and like a potentially life-changing moment for me. Instead they’re arriving at a time that feels like a life-changing moment for us all as we stand up together against racism and police brutality and fight to make this country a better place.
