'As a queer person of colour, I was finding that I was only ever invited to talk about my experiences in the defensive position - arguing with racists about the facts of racism; shouting with transphobes about the validity of trans lives (things that should never be debated). It was profoundly disempowering. Life As a Unicorn was my opportunity to write about my experiences and ideas without having to pander to a damaging narrative that tried to invalidate my existence - I wanted to relay the complexity, nuance, tragedy and triumph that queer POC lives encompass, far beyond reductive mainstream representations. This book is dedicated to queer people of colour everywhere, and to the intersectional experience, for the people who bravely live in the in between, and within the chaotic intersections of multiple identities where true magic abounds.' - Glamrou⁠⠀
