For almost 10 years, the Group has been committed to fighting against this disease which remains incurable to date, through its financial support to a leading center in Paris, the Robert-Debré AP-HP hospital, to invest in research and allow the purchase of essential medical equipment.  Recognized by the United Nations as a public health priority, sickle cell disease affects more than 5 million people a year and is particularly common among people whose ancestors come from Africa, South and Central America, Caribbean islands, Mediterranean countries, India and Saudi Arabia.  Without medical or social follow-up, it kills between 50 to 80 percent of children before the age of five suffering from mild infections such as colds, bronchitis, anemia or oxygen deficiency in the tissues.  Since 2011, the Group and its Maisons have been raising awareness on this cause every year among their employees and influential personalities by inviting them to a charity event called “Dîner des Maisons engagées”.
