So much has changed in this passage of time…these walls no longer have holes, our souls are ripped open to finally address discrimination. The other horse and kind lady rider remain on the living room window, and @elfriede.the.great.dane’s red ball continues to move about the garden. We have all been moved these weeks to go deep into ourselves—the need in understanding that our thoughts, our words and actions, mean something. These moments I saw are not fading. They are firm in memory of the outpouring of anger, and love, in Minneapolis, New York City and Washington DC, humanity uniting in a call for enough is enough, a mantra that has spread across the world…racism, oppression knows no border. We see it in abuse of indigenous communities and people of color around the globe. I cannot make smooth all of humanity on my own, just as I could not remove the tortured scars the walls of this abused home had without the support of others. Home again with Frida, these days in wait for visas stamped on paper call passports, the holes that once populated every centimeter of these walls are now in me. Within all of us. Each of us has become this home of neglect that needs mending for everyone, working to right wrongs, to heal, by loving with kindness and equality for all. On Day 23, I wrote about being privileged in safety within these broken walls from the invisible outside that could kill. As a white male, I have been given more privileges than deserved, how with privilege comes responsibility.
