F1 GTRs ran as a mix of customer teams and a ’works’ #59 Kokusai Kaihatsu Racing entry managed by Lanzante Motorsport for a Japanese sponsor. ​ ​The #59 car was crewed by two-time Le Mans winner Yannick Dalmas, Japanese veteran Masanori Sekiya and ex-F1 driver JJ Lehto.​ ​Race strategy was about playing it safe. Pushing, but not to the extreme. Conditions were typically Le Mans-like in their unpredictability, with rain and fog making for a very challenging race.
