London Fashion Week Mens just finished . Check out on SHOWstudio.com the designers that had to create films , presentations and ideas other than a catwalk show .
Congratulations to all those who rose to the challenge.
The future of Fashion has to change , it’s not sustainable as it is .
We cannot and should not go back to the old system.
The world has completely changed in the last 3 months and we as creatives need to offer new solutions. Just saying that the catwalk is the best way to show clothes only reinforces old attitudes and the status quo . It’s expensive, ecologically unsound and simply put , it’s not fashionable any more .
Exciting new graduate designers are researching into virtual clothes, AI , recycled fabric , ethical production, non gender dressing , sustainable clothes that reflect a new and a better world .
And it’s not just the young designers, conversations I have had with designers at major brands are also crying out for change and are extremely excited to start a new fashion world !
Fashion by definition is a forward looking medium , it has a duty of definition to move forward.
This season is for pioneers .
Even if they are baby steps they show that there is a new and a different way for fashion to articulate itself away in a way that is more in step with the public desires and the huge challenge that lies before us .
SHOWstudio supports these designers who are trying to find a better , fairer more inclusive way forward .
The London Fashion designers thought outside the box, breaking the barriers of typical runway and presentation formats, and take to a variety of formats, from films to lookbooks and playlists to live discussions.⠀
